Myrath and Roses of Thieves: oriental and folk wind over Prague

Hungarian folk-punk Roses of Thieves and Tunisian progressive metal band Myrath electrified the room at Rock Café Prague on the 11th of April.

Roses of Thieves - Let’s dance!

Roses of Thieves was the perfect opener for Myrath. The Hungarians were full of energy and their songs made the public dance, as well as the musicians. They played mostly songs from their last album “Demons Ascend” with songs such as “White Wolf” or “Fend off the Dark”, but also their surprising cover of Sabrina Salerno’s “Boys Summer Love”. The beautiful melodies of the band were even more special live thanks to the accordion player, completing the band in an unique way.

Myrath - What we wanted and what we needed

It was the first time Myrath came to Prague as a headliner and they didn’t disappoint. They started strong with “The Funeral” from their new album “Wilderness of Mirrors” and blended some older songs such as “Dance” ( from the album “Shehili”, 2019) and “Tales of the sands” (from “Tales of the sands”, 2011) with their new ones during the rest of the show.
Seeing Myrath isn’t just about music, it is a performance. Despite the small venue and the absence of fire effects, there was still a beautiful dancer on stage on several occasions, dancing using her clothes, fans or even a saber! They also have beautiful outfits. For this tour the drummer Morgan Berthet is wearing a mask, which makes his performance even more impressive. I particularly appreciated to see him having a drum solo, something that tends to be rare nowadays.

The singer Zaher Zorgati is truly a showman and interacts a lot with the crowd, giving even explanations about some songs. He was joined during “Until the end” by Ivett Dudas of Roses of Thieves, perfectly replacing Elize Ryd who initially sings the female vocals on the album.
Myrath kept us with them during the whole show without effort due to their perfect balance of musical performance, interactions and spectacle. We were asked “Do you want it? Do you need it?” and for sure we received what we wanted and more.
The last song was their most popular one, “Believer” from the album “Legacy” (2016) and Zaher changed the crowd into a choir. The public and Myrath ended the show singing together: believe and carry on.

Tour of Myrath "Wilderness of Mirrors" will carry on and Prague was thankful they stopped by Rock Café during their first strike! Were you there too? What are your experiences of this evening?
