V oblasti, kde jsem \u017eil, \u017e\u00e1dn\u00fd metal nebyl a pak jsem na\u0161el v novin\u00e1ch inzer\u00e1t, \u017ee Crystallion<\/strong> st\u00e1le pot\u0159ebuj\u00ed zp\u011bv\u00e1ka. V\u016fbec jsem tu kapelu neznal a prost\u011b jsem jim napsal, kdy\u017e hledali, jestli by bylo mo\u017en\u00e9 s nimi jamovat. \u0158ekli, \u017ee jo, a\u0165 p\u0159ijdu. A taky se zeptali: Nechce\u0161 se uch\u00e1zet o m\u00edsto zp\u011bv\u00e1ka? Ale j\u00e1 jsem odpov\u011bd\u011bl, \u017ee bych se jim asi nel\u00edbil, proto\u017ee poch\u00e1z\u00edm z death trashov\u00fdch v\u011bc\u00ed. Ale i p\u0159esto si \u0159ekli o n\u011bjak\u00fd materi\u00e1l. Tak jsem jim ho poslal. Odpov\u011bd\u011bli mi: Mus\u00ed\u0161 to aspo\u0148 zkusit. Tak to za\u010dalo a prvn\u00ed zkou\u0161ka byla hrozn\u00e1. Byla to tot\u00e1ln\u00ed katastrofa. Netrefil jsem spr\u00e1vn\u011b \u017e\u00e1dnou notu a bylo to hrozn\u00e9, trapn\u00e9. No, pak jsem p\u0159i\u0161el podruh\u00e9 a pak pot\u0159et\u00ed a pak jsme to zkou\u0161eli po\u010dtvrt\u00e9 a po \u010dtvrt\u00e9 mi nab\u00eddli pr\u00e1ci. Martin<\/strong>, buben\u00edk, a Steve<\/strong>, baskytarista, a j\u00e1 jsme byli v\u0161ichni na jednom koncert\u011b v roce 1994 v Mnichov\u011b na koncert\u011b Manowar<\/strong>, ani\u017e bychom se znali. Proto \u0159\u00edk\u00e1m, \u017ee je to nejsp\u00ed\u0161 osud. Byla to jen ot\u00e1zka \u010dasu, kdy na sebe kone\u010dn\u011b naraz\u00edme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Pl\u00e1nujete spole\u010dn\u011b nahr\u00e1t novou hudbu?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Ano, u\u017e m\u00e1me p\u0159ipraven\u00e9 p\u00edsni\u010dky. Ale vlastn\u011b za \u0161est t\u00fddn\u016f (od 12. 4. 2025) za\u010dne Martin<\/strong> nahr\u00e1vat bic\u00ed. V\u0161ichni sd\u00edl\u00edme stejn\u00e9ho ducha, a proto m\u00e1me pocit, \u017ee to tak m\u00e1 b\u00fdt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Jak se chovaj\u00ed fanou\u0161ci? Byli jsme mal\u00e1 kapela, nem\u011bli jsme ani b\u00fdt opravdov\u00e1 kapela, jen z\u00e1bavn\u00fd projekt se t\u0159emi chl\u00e1pky a d\u011bl\u00e1n\u00edm blbost\u00ed. Ale lidem se to moc l\u00edbilo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Pro\u010d jsi v\u016fbec za\u010dal zp\u00edvat? Pro\u010d jsi cht\u011bl b\u00fdt zp\u011bv\u00e1kem?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n No, j\u00e1 jsem vlastn\u011b nikdy necht\u011bl b\u00fdt zp\u011bv\u00e1k. Za\u010d\u00ednal jsem jako baskytarista. Pak jsem se cht\u011bl st\u00e1t kytaristou, tak jsem hr\u00e1l na kytaru. Kdy\u017e jsem byl kytaristou v trashov\u00e9 kapele, p\u0159i\u0161li jsme o zp\u011bv\u00e1ka, a tak jsem za\u010dal zp\u00edvat. Pozd\u011bji jsem byl ve St\u00e1tech a hr\u00e1l jsem v cover kapele. Tam jsem nem\u011bl \u017e\u00e1dn\u00fd n\u00e1stroj a oni pot\u0159ebovali zp\u011bv\u00e1ka, tak jsem tam za\u010dal zp\u00edvat. You are still a new singer of Crystallion. So could you explain how did you get to this band and why did they choose you?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Nice meeting you. Well, it was the kind of fate, because I was moving back from the States to Austria. I always did some kind of music and I was longing for rock and roll. There was no metal in the area I lived and then I found the announce in the newspaper Crystallion still need a singer. I didn’t know the band at all and I just wrote them while they’re searching if it would be possible to jam with them. They said, yeah, come over. They also asked, Do you want to apply for the singer position? But I reply, I don’t think you would like me because I come from the death trash stuff. But even though they asked for some material. So I sent it to them. They answered me, you need to try at least. That’s how it started and the first rehearsal was awful. It was a total disaster. I wouldn’t hit any notes right and it was horrible, embarrassing. Well, then I came a second time and then I came a third time and then we did a fourth time and after the fourth time they offered me the job. It was getting better, so let’s try it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n But now you are happy to sing with them and to be with them?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Totally, totally, because I didn’t know any of their songs before. And then I learned those songs and we were like, wow, that’s insane. You know, I was raised with Manowar<\/strong> and stuff like that in the 90s. And there’s another fun fact. Martin<\/strong>, the drummer, and Steve<\/strong>, the bassist, we’ve all been at the same show in 1994 in Munich at the Manowar<\/strong> show without knowing each other. That’s why I’m saying it’s probably fate. It was just a matter of time until we finally ran into each other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Are you planning to record some music together?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Yes, we already have songs set. There’s maybe three or four songs missing for an album. But actually in six weeks from now (12.4.2025) Martin<\/strong> will start the recording of the drums. We don’t have an exact time table so it might be released in the end of this year or in spring 2026. But it’s happening!<\/p>\n\n\n\n How are you enjoying your tour with <\/em>Claymorean and <\/em>Solar System?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n It’s an honour to tour with Claymorean<\/strong> and Solar System<\/strong>. They’re real friends. Especially Solar System, we know each other since more than two years ago and we did a couple of shows together. It has the spirit of the metal family thing. Where it’s not about money, fame or stupid things and just having fun together, make metal, keep metal alive. We all share the same spirit and that’s why it feels like it’s meant to be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n So how are the fans acting? How was it in Germany?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n It was quite stunning. When you think about it, maybe not that stunning as you might think. No matter where we’ve been, from the very first moment, when Solar System<\/strong> entered the stage until we left the stage, all people were there, all were screaming and shouting and moving. Until the last chord of the last band. And it was like that on every single show. I think the magic is because we did a co-headliner tour. Only people, who actually wanted to see us, came to our shows. So they were all there for us and they were all for a big party. It was just amazing. Not always a lot of people, we had some really low attendances, which was expected. But therefore it was even more cool that there was just a front row and it gave us everything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n How are you being accepted as a new singer?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Yeah, that’s a miracle, because the original singer Thomas left. I was a little bit scared, especially at the beginning where my singing was not where I wanted it to be. You won’t hear it tonight where I want it to be as well because I’m a little bit out of shape. But they accepted me like I’m family, or they would not even talk about it. It’s great.<\/p>\n\n\n\n How do you like Czech Republic and Czech audience?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Well, it’s not a coincidence that we come back to Czech Republic as often as we can. We love it here, here are good people, good crowd. It’s old school a little bit, you know, like it was meant to be. I would say even more here, in this small village. When we had the shows in Germany with Solar System<\/strong> and we talked to the people later they loved them. They really loved it you know like they might not be able to understand the lyrics, but I think that was the magic. Because you had to focus on the music. Oto<\/strong> (singer of Solar System) doesn’t speak much English or German, so he was smiling and he just got the people around. They loved him, because they are excited for the same thing. We lost the voice. Yeah, we also lost the old Crystallion<\/strong> banner. We left it in Frankfurt. We lost Patti, our guitarist. We lost so many things on that tour. So voice is just one thing on a long list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Who is the main songwriter and lyric writer of the new songs on upcoming album?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Usually it’s Steve<\/strong>, but for the new upcoming album it’s all of us. Everybody has two, three songs where they are involved in the writing. They threw like four or even five songs on me, to write the lyrics. You’re the singer, you need to write the lyrics. You will be the one who sings them. So it was like group effort. Steve<\/strong> still has the last word usually, someone has to be. And he’s the founder and the oldest member, together with Martin<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n What else are you preparing in the future?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n We do not have any of the old CDs with us, only the last two albums, because they’re sold out. Also the record companies died and stuff. But now the rights are back to us, not for the first album, but the second and third album. We will do a reissue and because it’s too long for one vinyl so it has to be double album. We also have some cool ideas to fill in and make it even more special. That will be between the release of the new album, so we have something to offer if it takes a little longer than we want.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Maybe we can talk more about you. You said you are from the trash metal scene. What were you doing before Crystallion?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n In 2006, same year when Crystalion<\/strong> released their first album I started a band called Action Bass Tom Band<\/strong>. And it was a trash desk project and we did a lot of fun things. We were a small band, we were not meant to be a real band, just a fun project with three dudes and making stupid things. But people liked it very much.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Why did you even start to sing? Why do you want to be a singer?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Well, I never wanted to be a singer. I started as a bass player. Then I wanted to become a guitar player, so I played guitar. When I was the guitar player in the trash band, we lost our singer and then I started to sing. Later I was in the States and I was in a cover band. I had no instrument there and they needed a singer and I started to sing there. That’s how I slipped into it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Do you have some message for the fans?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Live your life, go out to concerts, no matter what band it is, just experience every single second of your life. And if it happens that you like our music, we’ll come to your city if you let us know that you want us there. So you have a strong and loyal fan base?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Well it’s widely spread so if you go to any city and you have three strong fans there. It means a lot to us. Kdy\u017e jsme m\u011bli koncerty v N\u011bmecku se Solar System<\/strong> a pozd\u011bji jsme mluvili s lidmi, tak se jim l\u00edbily. Opravdu se jim to l\u00edbilo, i kdy\u017e t\u0159eba nerozum\u011bli text\u016fm, ale mysl\u00edm, \u017ee v tom bylo to kouzlo. Proto\u017ee jste se museli soust\u0159edit na hudbu. Oto<\/strong> (zp\u011bv\u00e1k Solar System) neum\u00ed moc anglicky ani n\u011bmecky, tak\u017ee se jen usm\u00edval a lidi kolem sebe t\u00edm prost\u011b dostal. Milovali ho, proto\u017ee jsou nad\u0161en\u00ed ze stejn\u00e9 v\u011bci. Ztratili jsme \u00fapln\u011b hlas. Jo, a taky jsme p\u0159i\u0161li o star\u00fd transparent Crystallion. Nechali jsme ho ve Frankfurtu. P\u0159i\u0161li jsme o Pattiho, na\u0161eho kytaristu. Na tom turn\u00e9 jsme p\u0159i\u0161li o spoustu v\u011bc\u00ed. Kdy\u017e jsem p\u0159i\u0161el do kapely a za\u010dali jsme s prvn\u00edmi koncerty, pom\u00e1hal jsem jim se soci\u00e1ln\u00edmi m\u00e9dii, proto\u017ee na soci\u00e1ln\u00ed m\u00e9dia a podobn\u00e9 v\u011bci nikdo neodpov\u00eddal. Poznal jsem, \u017ee tam byl v\u017edycky jeden \u010dlov\u011bk, kter\u00fd v\u0161echno lajkoval a psal nad\u0161en\u00e9 koment\u00e1\u0159e. A byl n\u011bkde z v\u00fdchodu Polska, nedaleko od Var\u0161avy. A j\u00e1 jsem \u0159\u00edkal, \u017ee tam mus\u00edme hr\u00e1t, tam je fanou\u0161ek! A tak jsme to ud\u011blali, v roce 2023 jsme hr\u00e1li ve Var\u0161av\u011b v jednom tamn\u00edm \u00fa\u017easn\u00e9m klubu a ten t\u00fdpek p\u0159i\u0161el a znamenalo to pro n\u011bj v\u0161echno. \u0158\u00edkal, \u017ee si myslel, \u017ee n\u00e1s nikdy neuvid\u00ed. A my tam byli!
Tak\u017ee si rad\u0161i d\u00e1vejte pozor! Jo, dneska ve\u010der tu m\u00e1me d\u00e1mu z Francie. P\u0159edt\u00edm jsme se s n\u00ed poprv\u00e9 setkali ve \u0160v\u00fdcarsku. Tak\u017ee je to jej\u00ed p\u00e1t\u00fd koncert v \u0159ad\u011b b\u011bhem jednoho roku. Tak\u017ee ona je opravdu nad\u0161en\u00e1. Taky kdy\u017e jsme hr\u00e1li ve Frankfurtu, p\u0159ijel jeden Ameri\u010dan a p\u0159ehodil si v\u0161echny pl\u00e1ny s prac\u00ed a tak, jen aby se na ten koncert dostal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When I came to the band and we started the first shows I helped them with the social media because nobody would answer social media and stuff like that. I recognized there was always one guy liking everything and writing enthusiastic comments. And he was somewhere from the east of Poland, far off Warsaw. And I said We have to play there, there’s a fan! And so we did, in 2023, we played in Warsaw at an awesome club there, and that dude came and it meant everything to him. He was like, I thought I will never see you guys. And there we were!
So better watch out! Yeah, tonight we have a lady from France here. Before we already met her in Switzerland the first time. So it’s her fifth concert in a row in a year. So she is really enthusiastic. Also when we played in Frankfurt there was an American coming and he switched all his plans with work and stuff just to squeeze the show in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
