Pov\u00eddali jsme si o jeho minulosti, o budoucnosti Dragony<\/strong> a tak\u00e9 o turn\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ahoj, r\u00e1da t\u011b znovu potk\u00e1v\u00e1m a d\u011bkuji ti za tv\u016fj \u010das.<\/em><\/strong>
M\u00e1m na tebe n\u011bkolik ot\u00e1zek a nejprve bych se r\u00e1da dozv\u011bd\u011bla n\u011bco v\u00edc o tob\u011b. Co je vlastn\u011b tvou hlavn\u00ed prac\u00ed<\/em><\/strong>?
J\u00e1 jsem pr\u00e1vn\u00edk, v roce 2010 jsem dokon\u010dil vysokou \u0161kolu a pot\u00e9 jsem absolvoval soudn\u00ed praxi. Nyn\u00ed pracuji v AKM (Rakousk\u00fd svaz autor\u016f), zab\u00fdv\u00e1m se licencemi pro pou\u017eit\u00ed hudby, tedy na ve\u0161kerou hudbu na webov\u00fdch str\u00e1nk\u00e1ch, webr\u00e1diu, spotify, youtube.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Co t\u011b bav\u00ed na pr\u00e1ci hudebn\u00edka\/zp\u011bv\u00e1ka?<\/em><\/strong>
Vlastn\u011b jsem nejd\u0159\u00edve za\u010dal hr\u00e1t na kytaru<\/strong>, kdy\u017e jsem byl je\u0161t\u011b teenager. Mysl\u00edm, \u017ee kdy\u017e jsem za\u010d\u00ednal, tak jsem na tom nebyl tak \u0161patn\u011b. Ale kdy\u017e jsem pak skon\u010dil st\u0159edn\u00ed \u0161kolu a p\u0159ijel studovat do V\u00eddn\u011b<\/strong>, cht\u011bl jsem se p\u0159idat ke kapele a v\u0161ude byla spousta kytarist\u016f a to mnohem lep\u0161\u00edch ne\u017e j\u00e1. Ale chyb\u011bli zp\u011bv\u00e1ci a j\u00e1 jsem vlastn\u011b v\u017edycky cht\u011bl zp\u00edvat. Moc mi to ne\u0161lo, ale proto\u017ee tam nebyli jin\u00ed, tak jsem to stejn\u011b d\u011blal. Ze za\u010d\u00e1tku jsem byl dost \u0161patn\u00fd, ale postupem \u010dasu se to trochu zlep\u0161ilo. A to je v podstat\u011b d\u016fvod, pro\u010d jsem se p\u0159eorientoval. Stejn\u011b jsem to v\u017edycky cht\u011bl d\u011blat, sice jsem nem\u011bl moc p\u0159irozen\u00fd talent a tak jsem pot\u0159eboval n\u011bjak\u00fd tr\u00e9nink. Mysl\u00edm, \u017ee nejv\u00edc m\u011b na tom bav\u00ed ta p\u0159\u00edm\u00e1 komunikace s publikem. M\u016f\u017eete mluvit s lidmi a v\u00e1\u0161 hlas je v\u00e1\u0161 n\u00e1stroj, tak\u017ee je to velmi osobn\u00ed zp\u016fsob interpretace hudby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

V\u00edm, \u017ee jsi byl b\u00fdval\u00fdm zp\u011bv\u00e1kem <\/em>Visions of Atlantis, ale nikdy jsem nesly\u0161ela, pro\u010d jsi skon\u010dil. Mohl bys mi o tom n\u011bco \u0159\u00edct?<\/em><\/strong>
Kdy\u017e jsem v roce 2013 nastoupil do kapely po boku Clemi<\/strong>, bylo to tak, \u017ee Thomas Caser<\/strong> se cht\u011bl vr\u00e1tit ke ko\u0159en\u016fm k symfonick\u00e9mu metalov\u00e9mu stylu, nato\u010dit je\u0161t\u011b jedno album, odehr\u00e1t p\u00e1r koncert\u016f a festival\u016f a pak kapelu prakticky ukon\u010dit. Tak jsme v roce 2018 nato\u010dili album „The Deep and the Dark<\/em>“ a dopadlo to velmi dob\u0159e, tak\u017ee Tom<\/strong> dostal znovu chu\u0165 a z rozlu\u010dkov\u00e9 z\u00e1le\u017eitosti se stala comebackov\u00e1. Kdy\u017e jsme tu desku propagovali, chodil za n\u00e1mi skoro ka\u017ed\u00fd t\u00fdden a pl\u00e1noval tu a tam n\u011bjak\u00e9 koncerty. Ale kdy\u017e mus\u00ed\u0161 p\u011bt dn\u00ed v t\u00fddnu pracovat ve sv\u00e9 b\u011b\u017en\u00e9 pr\u00e1ci a pak v p\u00e1tek odpoledne sednout na deset hodin do autobusu, abys n\u011bkde odehr\u00e1l 45minutov\u00fd set a vr\u00e1til se, tak je to dost vy\u010derp\u00e1vaj\u00edc\u00ed. K tomu jsem po\u0159\u00e1d m\u011bl je\u0161t\u011b Dragony a taky jsme nahr\u00e1vali. Tak\u017ee jsem m\u011bl dv\u011b kapely plus pr\u00e1ci na pln\u00fd \u00favazek a bylo toho na m\u011b trochu moc. Kdy\u017e u\u017e bylo jasn\u00e9, \u017ee VoA<\/strong> t\u00edmto albem neskon\u010d\u00ed, ale bude pokra\u010dovat d\u00e1l, zejm\u00e9na s turn\u00e9, \u0159ekl jsem Tomovi<\/strong>, \u017ee to nebudu moct d\u011blat d\u00e1l a m\u011bli bychom se poohl\u00e9dnout po n\u011bkom jin\u00e9m, kdo by m\u011b nahradil. Za\u010dali jsme o tom p\u0159em\u00fd\u0161let a vt\u00e9 dob\u011b jsme byli na turn\u00e9 s Temperance<\/strong> a vid\u011bl jsem tam Michele<\/strong>ho, kter\u00fd m\u00e1 p\u0159\u00edjemn\u00fd typ hlasu, kter\u00fd by se hodil k VoA<\/strong>, a tak jsem ho po\u017e\u00e1dal, aby m\u011b nahradil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Promluvme si te\u010f tak\u00e9 o <\/em>Dragony. M\u016f\u017ee\u0161 n\u00e1m \u0159\u00edct v\u00edce o va\u0161em p\u0159ipravovan\u00e9m albu a crowdfundingov\u00e9 kampani, kterou jste zah\u00e1jili?<\/em><\/strong>
Posledn\u00ed album „Viribus Unitis<\/em>“ vy\u0161lo u\u017e v roce 2021, uprost\u0159ed pandemie, co\u017e bylo ne\u0161\u0165astn\u00e9, proto\u017ee jsme nemohli vyrazit na turn\u00e9, abychom ho propagovali. Tak\u017ee prvn\u00ed turn\u00e9 jsme absolvovali a\u017e o rok pozd\u011bji se Serenity<\/strong>. To samoz\u0159ejm\u011b nebyla nejlep\u0161\u00ed situace pro propagaci alba. Tak\u017ee te\u010f po t\u0159ech letech je rozhodn\u011b \u010das za\u010d\u00edt n\u011bco nov\u00e9ho. Bohu\u017eel se zm\u011bnila ekonomick\u00e1 situace, v\u0161ude jsou v\u00e1lky a obrovsk\u00e1 inflace, tak\u017ee n\u00e1klady na v\u00fdrobu alba, obzvl\u00e1\u0161\u0165 zp\u016fsob, jak\u00fdm ho produkujeme my (s orchestr\u00e1ln\u00edmi party a spoustou \u010dasu ve studiu s p\u0159edprodukc\u00ed, \u017eiv\u00fdmi bic\u00edmi atd.), velice stouply. Opravdu chceme ud\u011blat dal\u0161\u00ed album, m\u00e1me skv\u011bl\u00fd koncept, podobn\u00fd tomu, co jsme m\u011bli na „Viribus Unitis<\/em>„, tedy takovou tu alternativn\u00ed historii, ale v jin\u00e9m prost\u0159ed\u00edm. Tak jsme si \u0159ekli, \u017ee jdeme do toho, ale pot\u0159ebujeme dal\u0161\u00ed crowdfunding<\/strong>. Ten minul\u00fd fungoval velmi dob\u0159e, nejen co se t\u00fd\u010de spojen\u00ed s publikem, ale m\u016f\u017ee\u0161 fanou\u0161k\u016fm d\u00e1t n\u011bco speci\u00e1ln\u00edho (podepsan\u00e9 CD, podepsan\u00e9 LP, speci\u00e1ln\u00ed tri\u010dka, mikiny). Kampa\u0148 st\u00e1le prob\u00edh\u00e1 a\u017e do konce b\u0159ezna, ale u\u017e te\u010f jsme dos\u00e1hli v\u00edce ne\u017e 75 % na\u0161eho c\u00edle. Doufejme, \u017ee se n\u00e1m poda\u0159\u00ed vybrat je\u0161t\u011b v\u00edce, co\u017e by n\u00e1m pomohlo s p\u0159edstihem zaplatit ve\u0161ker\u00e9 n\u00e1klady na studio, videa, fotky, v\u00fdrobu merchandise. Pokud m\u00e1te r\u00e1di hudbu Dragony<\/strong>, je to nejlep\u0161\u00ed zp\u016fsob, jak n\u00e1s te\u010f podpo\u0159it! (V\u00edce v odkazu!<\/a>)
M\u016f\u017eeme se tedy t\u011b\u0161it na velk\u00e9 novinky. M\u00e1te u\u017e datum vyd\u00e1n\u00ed alba?<\/em><\/strong>
\u017d\u00e1dn\u00e9 pevn\u00e9 datum zat\u00edm nem\u00e1me, ale vypad\u00e1 to, \u017ee bez labelu bychom ho mohli vydat v \u0159\u00edjnu<\/strong>\/listopadu<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nyn\u00ed si promluvme o turn\u00e9. Jak jste se v\u016fbec domluvili s <\/em>Warkings?<\/em><\/strong>
Kluky z Warkings<\/strong> zn\u00e1m u\u017e n\u011bjakou dobu, jsou to docela pohodov\u00ed p\u00e1nov\u00e9 a jejich crew je taky skv\u011bl\u00e1. Winterstorm<\/strong> jsou taky moc mil\u00ed a super vst\u0159\u00edcn\u00ed. \u0158ekl bych, \u017ee je to velmi pohodov\u00e9 turn\u00e9, kdy\u017e d\u011bl\u00e1me takov\u00e9 v\u00edkendov\u00e9 v\u00fdjezdy. V r\u00e1mci turn\u00e9 jsme odehr\u00e1li jen p\u011bt koncert\u016f (V\u00edde\u0148, Budape\u0161\u0165, Stuttgart, Praha a Var\u0161ava). Je to trochu \u0161koda, proto\u017ee turn\u00e9 prob\u00edh\u00e1 opravdu dob\u0159e. U\u017e jsme odehr\u00e1li dva vyprodan\u00e9 koncerty ve V\u00eddni a Stuttgartu, v\u0161echny kapely m\u011bly dobr\u00e9 prodeje merche a setkali jsme se s velmi nad\u0161en\u00fdmi davy. Dnes ve\u010der by tu m\u011blo b\u00fdt asi 400 lid\u00ed, tak\u017ee je to velmi \u00fasp\u011b\u0161n\u00e9 turn\u00e9. Bylo by skv\u011bl\u00e9 v n\u011bm pokra\u010dovat, ale na druhou stranu mus\u00edme dokon\u010dit produkci alba.
Pl\u00e1nujete po vyd\u00e1n\u00ed alba dal\u0161\u00ed turn\u00e9?<\/em><\/strong>
Samoz\u0159ejm\u011b, \u017ee ano. Zva\u017eujeme mo\u017enosti, jestli bychom mohli jet na podzim na turn\u00e9 t\u0159eba jako support. Pokud to nebude mo\u017en\u00e9, ud\u011bl\u00e1me n\u011bco na za\u010d\u00e1tku roku 2025, v \u00fanoru<\/strong> nebo b\u0159eznu<\/strong>. Moment\u00e1ln\u011b jen zkoum\u00e1me mo\u017enosti a nic nen\u00ed vytes\u00e1no do kamene. Ur\u010dit\u011b ale ud\u011bl\u00e1me release show<\/strong> ve V\u00eddni 7. prosince!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

V\u00edm, \u017ee m\u00e1\u0161 r\u00e1d \u010ceskou republiku. Jezd\u00ed\u0161 tak\u00e9 na spoustu \u010desk\u00fdch festival\u016f. Pl\u00e1nuje\u0161 letos n\u011bjak\u00fd?<\/em><\/strong>
Letos asi stihnu jen Masters of Rock<\/strong>, ale to je jen moje osobn\u00ed n\u00e1v\u0161t\u011bva. Douf\u00e1m, \u017ee t\u0159eba p\u0159\u00ed\u0161t\u00ed rok s novou deskou si na n\u011bkter\u00e9m z festival\u016f zase zahrajeme. V\u017edycky je radost tam hr\u00e1t.
T\u011b\u0161\u00ed\u0161 se na dne\u0161n\u00ed koncert?<\/em><\/strong>
Ur\u010dit\u011b, u\u017e je to n\u011bjak\u00fd \u010das, co jsme v Praze<\/strong> hr\u00e1li, je opravdu skv\u011bl\u00e9 b\u00fdt zase zp\u00e1tky. Uvid\u00edme, jak to p\u016fjde. Prodalo se asi 400 l\u00edstk\u016f, tak\u017ee bude skv\u011bl\u00e1 atmosf\u00e9ra, to je v \u010cesku v\u017edycky. Pravd\u011bpodobn\u011b se vr\u00e1t\u00edme v prosinci na dva koncerty v \u010cesk\u00e9 republice<\/strong> a 21. dubna n\u00e1s \u010dek\u00e1 tak\u00e9 vystoupen\u00ed v Brn\u011b<\/strong>.

I’ve got the opportunity to meet Siegfried Samer<\/strong> before Dragony<\/strong> show in Prague, when they were supporting Warkings<\/strong> on their headlining tour (report from the show is here)<\/a>. We were talking about his past, about future of Dragony and also touring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hello, it’s nice to meet you again and thank you for your time.
I have a few questions for you and at the first I’d like to know a little bit more about yourself. So what is your main job?<\/em><\/strong>
I’m a lawyer, I graduated from university in 2010, then I did a court internship. Now I work at AKM<\/strong> (Austrian Copyright Society), I do licensing for music use, for all music on websites, webradio, spotify, youtube.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What do you like about being a musician\/singer?<\/em><\/strong>
I actually started playing guitar when I was a teenager. I wasn’t that bad when I started, I guess. But then when I left high school and came to Vienna to study, I wanted to join a band and there were tons of guitarists and much better than me. But there were almost no singers and I always wanted to sing. I was not very good, but since there were no others I just did it anyway. I was pretty bad in the beginning, but over the years it got a little better. And that’s basically why I changed, I always wanted to do it anyway, I didn’t have much natural talent and needed training. I think what I enjoy the most is the direct communication with the audience. You can talk to people and your voice is your instrument, so it’s a very personal way of interpreting music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I know you were the former singer of <\/em>Visions of Atlantis and I never heard why you quit. Could you tell me something about that?<\/em><\/strong>
When I joined the band in 2013 alongside Clemi<\/strong>, the idea was that Thomas Caser<\/strong> wanted to go back to the roots to the more symphonic metal style, make one more album, play some shows and festivals and then practically end the band. Then we did „The Deep and the Dark<\/em>“ album in 2018 and it went very well, so Tom<\/strong> got the itch again and the farewell thing became a comeback thing. While we were promoting that album he was coming almost every week and planning some shows here and there. But when you have to work five days a week at your regular job and then get on a bus for ten hours on a Friday afternoon to play a 45 minute set somewhere and come back, it gets pretty exhausting. I still had Dragony<\/strong> and we were recording as well. It was two bands plus a full-time job and it was a bit much. When it became clear that VoA<\/strong> wasn’t going to end with this album but was going to go on, especially with the touring, I said to Tom<\/strong>, I’m not going to be able to do this, so let’s look for someone else to replace me. We started to think about it and since that time we were on tour with Temperance<\/strong> and I saw Michele<\/strong> there, he’s got a nice kind of voice, he could fit VoA<\/strong> so I asked him to replace me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let’s talk more about <\/em>Dragony. Can you tell us more about your upcoming album and the crowdfunding campaign you started?<\/em><\/strong>
The last album „Viribus Unitis<\/em>“ was already released in 2021, in the middle of the pandemic, which was unfortunate because we couldn’t go on tour to promote it. So the first tour we did was a year later with Serenity<\/strong>. It was obviously not the best situation to promote an album. So now after three years it is definitely time to start something new. Unfortunately the economic situation has changed with wars everywhere and massive inflation, so the cost of producing an album, especially the way we produce it (with orchestration parts and a lot of studio time with pre-production, live drums etc.) has really gone up. We really want to do another album, we have a great concept, similar to what we had on „Viribus Unitis<\/em>„, so kind of this alternate history, but with a different setting. So we said ok, but we need another crowdfunding<\/strong>. The last one worked very well, not only in terms of connecting with the audience, but you can give the fans something special (signed CDs, signed LPs, special t-shirts, hoodies). It’s still going on until the end of March, but we’ve already reached more than 75% of our goal. Hopefully we can reach even more, which would help us to pay all the costs for the studio, videos, pictures, merchandise production in advance. So we can look forward to something new. Do you have a release date for the album?<\/em><\/strong>
No fixed date yet, but it looks like without a label we could release it in October<\/strong>\/November<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now lets talk about touring. How did you get along with <\/em>Warkings?<\/em><\/strong>
I have known the Warkings<\/strong> guys for a while, they are pretty chill gentlemen and the crew is great too. Winterstorm<\/strong> are also very nice and super helpful. It’s a very relaxed tour I would say, doing this kind of weekend run. We only did five dates of the tour (Vienna<\/strong>, Budapest<\/strong>, Stuttgart<\/strong>, Prague <\/strong>and Warsaw<\/strong>). It’s a bit of a shame because the tour is going really well. We already played two sold out shows in Vienna and Stuttgart, all bands had good merch sales and we met very enthusiastic crowds. There should be about 400 people here tonight, so it’s a very successful tour. It would be great to continue, but on the other hand we really have to finish the production for the album.
Are you planning another tour after the release of the album?<\/em><\/strong>
Of course we are. We are taking options if we can do a tour maybe as a support act in the fall. If that’s not possible we’ll do something in early 2025<\/strong>, February <\/strong>or March<\/strong>. Right now we are just exploring options and nothing is set in stone. We will definitely do a release show in Vienna on December 7th<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I know you like the <\/em>Czech Republic. You come to a lot of Czech festivals. Are you planning any this year?<\/em><\/strong>
This year I’ll probably only manage Masters of Rock<\/strong>, but that’s just my personal visit. I hope that maybe next year with the new album we can play at one of the festivals again. It’s always a pleasure to play there.
Are you looking forward to the show tonight?<\/em><\/strong>
Absolutely, it’s been a while since we played in Prague<\/strong>, it’s really good to be back. We’ll see how it goes. We sold 400 tickets<\/strong>, so it’ll be a great atmosphere, it’s always great in the Czech Republic<\/strong>. We will probably be back in December<\/strong> for two shows in the Czech Republic and we also have a show in Brno on April 21st<\/strong>.
Do you have some special message for your fans?<\/em><\/strong>
I would like to encourage especially the Czech fans<\/strong> to support the production of the new album with our crowdfunding, because I think you will like the intro of the album very much, I can’t say more now. So you have to check it out for yourself!
