27. října jsem měla možnost cestovat do Švýcarského Prattelnu na legendární “Dánský Dynamit”, Pretty Maids.
Pánové se letos v létě vrátili po téměř 5 letech nepřítomnosti, aby potěšili své věrné fanoušky a konečně zahráli některé písně ze svého nejnovějšího, dnes již 5 let starého, alba “Undress Your Madness”. Kvůli nešťastným okolnostem muselo být turné plánované na začátek roku 2020 zrušeno a nikdo až doteď neslyšel nejnovější písně naživo. Kapela také v současné době slaví 40. výročí svého debutového alba “Red, Hot and Heavy”, které již odehrála celé naživo na Turockfestu v Bochumi na začátku týdne a hodlají tak učinit i na svém druhém koncertě v Kodani, 6. prosince v Amager Bio.
Prattelnská Z7 není jen slavnou halou, která bylo součástí mnoha nahraných živých vystoupení, ale také jedním z oblíbených míst pro samotné Pretty Maids. A musím souhlasit. Na pohostinnosti, hlasitosti návštěvníků a celkové atmosféře místa je prostě něco úžasného.
Speciálním hostem této zastávky jejich turné byl Dan Reed. Nevěděla jsem, co mám očekávat, ale byla jsem mile překvapena. Dan přišel na pódium bez jakéhokoliv intra, jen muž s akustickou kytarou připravený zpívat ze srdce celých 40 minut. Hrál také svou verzi písně “Holy Diver” od Ronnieho Jamese Dia.
Jakmile hodiny odbily osmou večer, světla zhasla a my jsme slyšeli intro k “Mother of All Lies” a já jsem měla pocit, že mi vybouchne srdce. Bez ohledu na to, kolikrát jsem to slyšela, vždy mi naběhne husí kůže. Kapela pokračovala v dodávání tvrdších písní, dokud nedosáhla “Will You Still Kiss Me (If I See You In Heaven)” a všichni jsme měli blízko k slzám. Ta píseň je rozhodně jednou z mých nejoblíbenějších z posledního alba.
Neměli jsme čas být smutní, protože první tóny “Serpentine” nás zasáhly z kytary Kena Hammera a dav opět šílel. Jedna z těch vzácnějších písní, kterou jsme dostali, byla rozhodně “Nightmare in the Neighbourhood”, pomalejší, zlověstně znějící klenot. Poté zazněly další hity, 3 písně z alba “Pandemonium” z roku 2010, které obsahuje pravděpodobně jeden z jejich největších hitů novější éry, “Little Drops of Heaven”.
Samozřejmě, že by to nebyl koncert Pretty Maids bez coveru “Please Don’t Leave Me” a Ronnieho Atkinse, který nás nechal znovu zpívat na plnou páru, dokud nebyl spokojený. Musím říct, že ten večer byl dav velmi hlasitý. Jako přídavek jsme dostali úžasnou “Future World” a set byl zakončen s “Love Games”.
Musím říct, že setlist byl dobře sestavený, aby uspokojil fanoušky staré, i nové. I když bych si přála, abychom také dostali něco buď z alb “Anything Worth Doing Is Worth Overdoing” nebo “Wake Up To The Real World”, mám pocit, že tato dvě jsou trochu přehlíženy.
Poté, co jsem viděla Pretty Maids letos v létě na Jailbreak Festivalu v Horsensu, si myslím, že se kapela opravdu vrátila do svých kolejí a jejich show je prostě úžasná. Pokud se někdy vrátí do České republiky, velmi Vás prosím, abyste se na ně šli podívat. Určitě toho nebudete litovat.
Největší dík patří kapele, jejich crew a celé Z7 rodině, za to, že tento skvělý večer umožnili. A fanouškům, že přišli na koncert.

On the 27th of October I had the opportunity to travel to Pratteln in Switzerland to see the legendary “Danish Dynamite”, Pretty Maids.
The guys came back this summer after almost 5 years of absence to make their loyal fans happy and to finally play some songs from their latest, now 5 years old album, “Undress Your Madness”. Because of unfortunate circumstances the tour planned in early 2020 had to be cancelled and nobody heard the newest songs live, until now. The band is also currently celebrating the 40-year anniversary of their debut album “Red, Hot and Heavy”, which they already played live in its entirety for the fans that attended the Turockfest in Bochum earlier that week and intend to do so again at their second Copenhagen show, on the 6th of December in Amager Bio.
Pratteln’s Z7 is not only a famous venue that has been a part of many live shows recorded but also one of the favourite places for Pretty Maids themselves to play. And I have to agree, there is just something special about the hospitality, the loudness of the attendees and the overall vibe of the place.
The special guest for this stop of their tour was Dan Reed. I didn’t know what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised. Dan came on stage with no fancy intro, just a man with his acoustic guitar ready to sing his heart out for 40 minutes. He also played his version of Ronnie James Dio’s “Holy Diver”.
Once the clock hit 8pm, the lights dimmed and we heard the intro to “Mother of All Lies” and I felt like my heart will explode. No matter how many times I hear it I always get goosebumps. The band continued to deliver more heavy songs until they reached “Will You Still Kiss Me (If I See You In Heaven)” and we were all close to tears. That song is definitely one of my favourites from the last album.
We got no time to be sad as the first notes of “Serpentine” hit us from Ken Hammer’s guitar and the crowd went crazy once again. One of the rarer songs we got was definitely “Nightmare in the Neighbourhood”, a slower, sinister sounding gem. More hits were played after that, 3 songs from the 2010’s “Pandemonium” album that houses probably one of their biggest hits of their newer era, “Little Drops of Heaven”.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a Pretty Maids show without the “Please Don’t Leave Me” cover and Ronnie Atkins letting us sing our hearts out once again. I must say the crowd that night was very loud. For encore we got the amazing “Future World” and the set ended with “Love Games”.
I have to say the setlist was well-built to satisfy the fans, old and new alike. Although I do wish we’d get something either from the “Anything Worth Doing Is Worth Overdoing” or “Wake Up To The Real World” albums, I feel like these two get a bit overlooked.
After seeing Pretty Maids earlier at the Jailbreak Festival in Horsens this summer I think the band really got back on their tracks and the show is just amazing. If they ever come back to Czech Republic I very much urge you to go see them if you can, you won’t be dissappointed. The biggest thanks goes to the band, their crew and the whole Z7 family, for making this brilliant evening possible. And to the fans for coming to the show!
